ABOUT THE G4 SYSTEM
THE BEST METHOD TO LEARN TO PLAY
WHY THE G4 SYSTEM WORKS SO WELL

The 80/20 rule suggests 80% of our results come from just 20% of our efforts. The G4 GUITAR METHOD was created using the 80/20 by designing the right guitar exercises in the right order focusing on the most essential skills. This helps the beginner student to reach proficiency in less time compared to standard traditional methods of learning guitar.

What our students say....

  • I’ve really enjoyed learning to play again, the tuition is logical and I’m loving learning to read music. It’s been easy to learn with this method. Although I’ve just started again the multi facet approach suits me. So it’s reading watching playing ( particularly like the fact Richard will do a video of a piece so you can practice in between lessons. Definitely value for money and learning with Richard has been a fun journey. He’s patient and encouraging. During lockdown this was a really helpful distraction with lots of laughter mixed in with learning in the zoom lessons.

    ---- Jan
  • I’ve really enjoyed both the face-to-face and Zoom sessions. I haven’t had a guitar teacher before, but it was an instrument I’d always wanted to learn. When a leaflet dropped through the door, promoting Richard’s course, I had initially thought of my children and asked them if they’d be interested in learning. Both felt they had enough on their plates with piano and drums. Undeterred, I decided I’d get a guitar for myself and see if Richard would take me on — with advancing years I didn’t want to waste time trying to pick it up as I went along. The course is well structured and carefully paced. It’s challenging in places but never so difficult as to be beyond one’s capabilities at whatever stage you are. The 30-minute small-group sessions are good value; particularly if you put in the practice between sessions. As with most things, what you get out of it is intimately bound up with the effort you put into it. Richard’s teaching style boosts your confidence and makes you feel you’re making real progress. And you do. .

    ---- David
  • Both my sons (Bailey and Finley) have very much enjoyed learning with Richard at G4 and continue to enjoy learning with him. Finley had been attending school lessons for about a year prior to learning with Richard and has advanced more in 3 months with Richard than the whole previous year at school lessons! Both Finley and Bailey are learning all manner of guitar theory and practical skills. The G4 course enables them to progress across all areas progressively building as they advance. It’s great the boys can read music now as well. The cost of the lessons is only very slightly more expensive but the quality of teaching so much better. I’d say value for money is excellent. Richard has a fantastic balance between discipline and making it fun for Finley and Bailey to learn and keeps them very well motivated which is key to maintain interest. They both enjoy attending Richard’s lessons. .

    ----Stuart (Dad)
  • Myself and my son Charlie took the beginners course and although we were a bit nervous and shy at first, Rich soon put us at ease and we enjoyed it so much we signed up for the next level and haven’t looked back. We were split into different classes with others of similar level/age group and have continued to progress and gain in confidence - I’m so surprised how far we have come in the last 18 months! The G4 method takes you through all the essential skills with clear, well-structured exercises and we focus on different skills each week which keeps it interesting. Rich keeps the pace, making sure we are all comfortable before moving to the next step, ensuring we are adopting the correct technique and providing helpful pointers and tips. Rich is always supportive and encouraging, he is a very talented guitar player, patient, and easy going topped with a great sense of humor which makes learning fun! The whole experience has been first class, I would recommend to anyone who is interested to give it a go..

    ---- Susan
  • My son really enjoys guitar lesson. Rich is very supportive during the whole learning process and encourages. Lessons are fun and there is no problem with practicing at home. Would definitely choose it again.

    ---- Martina (Mum)
  • My son has thoroughly enjoyed learning to play guitar with Rich and very much looks forward to his lesson each week. Rich’s style of teaching is really fun and my son comes away each week on a real high after every lesson. From the very first lesson he had, when Rich taught him how to play the theme tune of The Simpsons, to all the jazz style music he’s learning - he loves it all! It’s different from traditional music teaching methods that solely work towards exams etc but it gives my son pure joy learning to play the guitar in this manner. Rich teaches enthusiastically and he has really helped him to master the chords. Rich is an enthusiastic teacher who seems to genuinely enjoy teaching the guitar. His teaching style and methods - most especially his calm and patient manner - work perfectly to get the best results from my son. I would highly recommend Rich if you’re looking for you or your child to learn and truly enjoy playing the guitar.

  • Zak has very much enjoyed learning with Rich he started from a beginner and have improved significantly over 10 months. The lessons are good value as due to the preparation beforehand each lesson enables me to continue improving . The supporting learning notebooks are really beneficial. Its fun and the tutor is very easy to get along with . He takes time to understand your music likes and dislikes and plans lessons accordingly. Always focused on students achieving their best.

    ---- Sharon (Mum)
  • This has been one of the best learning experiences I have had and look forward to my lessons every week . I feel that Rich is really knowledgeable and will help to sort out any problems with learning the guitar. His understanding of my level of ability has made sure I have been pushed in a good way and progressed quicker than I thought possible.

    ---- Dan

  • I have absolutely enjoyed the learning process; it has a very good structure that is easy to follow and it gives you a good foundation to play different songs. The repetition and different exercises focus on various skills that build your confidence in playing, I feel its good value. It’s a very fun, relaxing class but also challenging.

    ----Valentina
  • I've really enjoyed the course so far and it’s much more accessible than previous tuition. I love that you can start playing songs from the beginning of the course. In each new exercise, there are elements from previous ones so it helps to cement the note reading knowledge and chord shapes. I feel that it’s absolutely value for money. Rich makes it very relaxed and fun. He is very helpful when I am struggling with something.

    ----Chloe
  • I think Zoey has made impressive progress in her guitar skill especially since she started with zero knowledge of musical instruments. That is a testament that the method that you are using has been working well. I think you engaged and communicate very well with the children and that helps to continually motivate them to learn
